My wife PAMELA HEBBERD and I retired to Spain in 2003, living in Camposol, Mazarron. In January 2009, whilst on holiday in Lanzarote, she sadly died aged just 53 years; the death was very sudden and unexpected. Friends contacted Tony Smith, from the English Funeral Service to arrange the repatriation of my wife to the Tanatorio in Mazarron. Tony proved to be a true professional showing sympathy and respect at such a difficult time for myself, family and friends. I had some legal problems in Lanzarote, which require Tony’s professional knowledge and Spanish language, and for weeks Tony made telephone calls and inquires which he took upon himself outside of his professional service. My wife’s funeral service was conducted with planning, thought and lots genuine courtesy, I thank all who attended the funeral service. To Tony Smith and the staff of The English Funeral Service I say thank you for your compassion and thoughtfulness

From the first phone call Tony was by my side offering me compassion, sincerity and friendship. Without his support I don't know how I would have coped as my dear husband John passed away so suddenly. I appreciated the time Tony spent with me to ensure the service reflected John´s love of life, Tony´s attention to detail was second to none. Nothing was too much trouble even right up to the eve of the funeral he was fine tuning the order of service as I decided to include a version of Abide With Me sung by a particular Welsh Male Voice Choir which meant him having to re-print the order of service at such a late stage - what a professional! Even after many weeks Tony is still there to support family and friends of John. Myself, friends and family find great comfort visiting the online Peace Garden Tony has set up in memory of John. I can highly recommend Tony (The English Funeral Director) for those who find themselves in a very stressful and unfortunate position as I did.

When Peter died on the 31st. January I arrived home to empty, cold house without electricity as the owners where I live were in a stand off with the builder. I had been at hospital and couldn't prepare for this situation, it was truly horrible being in the cold and dark and not being able to cook or warm anything. Tony came to my rescue without being prompted arriving with a gas fire, candles and a torch. Each day Tony gave me a task to complete towards the funeral which I did mostly in candle and torch light as I had to go to friends houses to send and receive emails, recharge my mobile phone and sometimes they kindly fed me. I cannot imagine getting through without Tony's help and I am eternally grateful as it resulted in a truly beautiful funeral. Sincere thanks Irene Ferguson.

I don't know how I would have coped without Tony, I made just one phone call, and he did everything else, he came to my house, and went through all the funeral arrangements with me step by step. He spent time organising my wife’s funeral exactly how I wanted it with photographs and music and made a very difficult time much more bearable. I would recommend Tony’s services to anyone.

My partner Tony Twiss died very suddenly in April 2009. I knew of Tony Smith, the English Funeral Director, so I contacted him, even though it was the early hours of the morning, Tony Smith was at my house very quickly and was able to help and guide me through from those first early hours. Tony was there every step of the way to make sure everything was arranged exactly to my wishes. Tony is professional and compassionate and nothing is to much trouble for him, he will be there for you at anytime, he will deal with all the arrangements exactly as you wish and support you all the way.We all love living in Spain, but when you are separated from your family, at a very venerable time, Spain can be a scary place. It is a comfort to be able to put your trust in someone who can deal with everything for you. Tony Smith did exactly that for me, from that very first phone call I had to make.

Taking out a funeral plan was something that I had been meaning to do for some time. However, when my husband Jim was suddenly rushed into hospital, I suddenly realised that I couldn’t afford to keep putting it off. The realisation that neither of us would be able to cope with the obvious legal and language problems prompted me into action and I immediately contacted Tony Smith and organised Funeral Plans for the both of us.

Thank God I did as I ended up having to contact him a lot sooner than I had envisaged.With Tony’s help and guidance we put together a “Celebration of Jim’s life “complete with some of his favourite music, which he had specifically requested.The service was wonderful and Jim himself would have enjoyed it thoroughly. Lots of our friends said it was the best funeral they had been to. One of our Spanish friends asked if all English funerals were as we had chosen. !!Anyway I can’t thank Tony enough and I personally would encourage the “ex pat “population to consider The English Funeral Director when considering their own requirements.

My husband passed away at home, I just didn't know what to do, so I rang a friend and she said contact Tony Smith. I can't thank Tony enough, nothing was to much trouble, he spent time with me and my family which is want I really needed. The funeral service to my husband was perfect, he was not a religious man but the service was a fitting tribute. I can't recommend Tony highly enough.
